Arid Mix
ARID MIX
Arid Mix is a perennial mix including Blue Buffalo Grass, Aries II, MG-4, Rhodes Grass, Wool Grass and MG-5. These dryland grasses are ideal for lower rainfall regions that have an annual rainfall between 250mm and 500mm. Some of the benefits of the Arid Mix are; high cold and drought tolerance; good digestibility and palatability; it can grow in most soil types; it delivers reasonable yields. The Arid Mix is suitable for Game, Sheep, Goats and Cattle. It can be used for direct grazing and hay-making.
White Buffalo Grass
White Buffalo Grass (Panicum maximum spp.) is a palatable and digestible perennial forage grass with tussocks. The main characteristic of this species is its good regrowth capacity after grazing. It is well received by cattle, game, horses, sheep and goats.
Blue Buffalo Grass
Blue Buffalo Grass is a summer perennial forage crop. The plants are tufted and can have short rhizomes. It is very drought resistant and can grow in most soil types. It is ideal for soil cover and erosion control.
Bread Grass
Bread Grass (Brachiaria brizantha spp.) is a perennial forage grass with low demands in soil fertility and a high drought tolerance. It has a good production of dry matter. It is suitable for beef and dairy cattle.
Rhodes Grass
Rhodes Grass is a hardy, tufted perennial grass used to restore soil structure and improve organic matter levels. It can effectively out-compete and smother weeds. It develops good ground cover and effectively mitigates soil erosion once established.
MG-5
MG-5 is a hardy perennial summer grass with a good production of dry matter. It can be grazed by cattle, sheep, goats and game. It has a high drought tolerance and shows good regrowth after grazing. MG-5 can withstand temporary waterlogging, which makes it a great addition to our Wetland Mix.
Wool Grass
Wool Grass a.k.a Bottle Brush Grass is a perennial, tufted grass with a single inflorescence. It is palatable and drought resistant. It can grow in infertile soils and is tolerant to low levels of phosphorus.
