STANDARD SUMMER COVER CROP MIX

Standard Summer Cover Mix is a three species mix consisting of Babala/Pearl millet, Super Grazer Sorghum and Cowpeas. Some of the benefits of the Standard Summer Cover Mix are that it improves soil quality by increasing soil organic matter,  increases soil fertility,  suppresses weeds and nematodes,  reduces soil erosion, improves water infiltration and retention,  creates a better seedbed for planting, and increases organic carbon content.

Babala / Pearl Millet

Babala is a annual summer forage crop. It has an extensive root system and can thrive in wide variety of growing conditions. Suitable for both grazing and silage.

Super Grazer Sorghum

Super Grazer Sorghum is an annual forage crop that is heat and drought resistant. It is excellent for grazing, silage, ground cover and erosion control.

Cowpeas

Cowpeas are annual herbaceous legumes that are indigenous to South Africa. It is very heat and drought resistant. It has root nodules that fix atmospheric nitrogen. It is excellent for forage.
